A disabled person’s dog was hit by a shopping basket in Salisbury after Christmas.

The incident happened in Malthouse Lane, near Playhouse theatre, on 28 December last year – but a police investigation failed to find those responsible.

Harris Dickenson said they were walking with their assistance dog, Phantom, near a group of teenagers messing around a Sainsbury’s trolley at about 5pm.

“My dog was doing his job and helping me walk, as we cut through and approached the 3 blue badge spaces outside the playhouse”, they said.

Adding: “one of the boys threw a shopping basket at my dog which hit his tail and clattered loudly behind him.

“The group immediately fled around the back through the path next to the city hall and I was only able to get a very blurry photo of them leaving.

“If anyone can identify them please let Salisbury Police know.

“My assistance dog has been very nervous in low light and new places since this incident and has been easy to startle, my freedom has been taken from me and I now have to go back to using my wheelchair every time I leave the house while he goes back through training to build his confidence again.”

Anyone with information should contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101 and quoting log 54230137121.
