A man has suffered a ‘life-changing’ injury during a crash in rural Wiltshire.
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the B4192 near Aldbourne at around 7.30am on Monday morning (15 January).
A white Ford Ranger lost control and overturned in a hedgerow after reportedly hitting a patch of black ice, sparking a large 999 response.
As a result, the driver – a local man aged in his 60s – sustained a significant leg fracture.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was tasked, airlifting the casualty to the major trauma centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for urgent care.
Following the incident, police described his injury as “potentially life-changing”.
The road was closed for several hours whilst the scene was dealt with.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “At around 7.30am this morning, officers responded following a serious vehicle collision on the B4192 near Upper Apham, Aldbourne, involving a van.
“The driver, a man in his 60s, suffered potentially life-changing leg injuries and has been taken to hospital.
“Any witnesses are asked to contact us via our website or on 101 quoting log 41 of today’s date.”
