A BMW driver has been arrested after crashing their car into a tree today (Sunday).

The high-impact road traffic collision happened on the A30 Lopcombe Corner, near Salisbury.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and other emergency services rushed to the scene at around 1pm.

The driver was attempting an overtake at high speed when they lost control and ploughed into a tree, according to a roads policing spokesperson.

The driver was arrested when they provided a roadside breath test result of 109 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The driver isn’t believed to have sustained any significant injuries in the incident. The BMW was completely destroyed.
