A man who stabbed his victim in the chest missing his heart by just over an inch has been jailed for six years after pleading guilty Winchester Crown Court on Friday.
The incident happened on the night of Friday 9 June 2017 when Triggs went to Charlotte Square, in Trowbridge, to confront his victim about his relationship with a mutual friend.
Police officers were on the scene within four minutes of receiving a 999 call and Tyrone Triggs, 37, of no fixed address, was arrested shortly afterwards.
During the confrontation he punched the victim in the face and stabbed him in the chest with a small retractable knife. The victim was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he was treated for a stab wound 3cm (1.1in) from his heart.
Triggs pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife.

“The victim was lucky to survive this assault, considering how close the stab wound was to his heart, and he is still feeling the after effects of his injuries now.
“I would like to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are rare and would like to thank everyone involved for assisting the police with this investigation.”
