Jeremy Hunt cancelled a top secret visit to the Great Western Hospital today.
The Secretary of State for Health is said to have planned to attend the hospital’s modern purpose built Day Surgery Unit at 2pm this afternoon, Friday 10 February.
The visit was cancelled or postponed at around 1pm.
It is believed the visit was kept under wraps due to concerns that protesters may flock to the hospital while he was there, causing security and safety concerns.
