The police watchdog is set to review the investigation into the disappearance a Swindon man.

Wiltshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after 25-year-old Bradley Porter was found dead.

His body was located on Elgin Industrial Estate yesterday (Sunday, 17 September) – around six weeks after he was reported missing on 6 August.

The force says its own Professional Standards Department will be reviewing actions taken by officers assigned to the case.

The IOPC will review the case before deciding whether or not to launch a full-scale investigation – a probe that could take a significant amount of time.

Bradley’s death was being treated as “unexplained”, but detectives are believed to have ruled out any concerns and have deemed his death non-suspicious.

Detective Inspector Deb Hatch said: “My thoughts, and those of the investigating team, are very much with Bradley’s next of kin as they come to terms with this very sad development.

“Bradley’s family are being supported at this time by specially trained officers.”
