A schoolboy has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision in Tidworth.

The 13-year-old was struck by a car on A3026 Ludgershall Road at 8.36am this morning (Friday).

The youngster sustained significant injuries and was flown to Southampton General Hospital by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance for urgent care.

His immediate family have been informed of the incident and are at his bedside.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a Hyundai i10 was not injured and no arrests have been made in connection with the crash.

Reports suggesting that a bus was involved in this incident are incorrect.

Forensic collision investigation work is underway at the scene – with the road closed to both motorists and pedestrians until this afternoon.

The route is closed between The Wellington Academy and Windmill Drive.
