Firefighters battle huge blaze involving block of flats in Amesbury

Firefighters are battling a huge blaze involving a block of flats in Amesbury.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at 7pm today (Friday).

The building involved is located on Porton Road and is a mix of domestic properties and commercial premises on the ground floor – including One Stop and Vets4Pets.

Several fire engines from Amesbury and Salisbury are on scene, with firefighters working to extinguish the flames. It’s not clear how much of the building has been damaged.

It’s not yet known if everybody was able to evacuate safely, but dozens of residents, staff and shoppers are currently lining the nearby roads as they watch on in horror.
