Police have launched an investigation after three ferrets were stolen from a garden.

The suspected theft in Caen Hill Gardens, Devizes, was reported when the homeowner noticed the pets missing this morning (Wednesday).

All four doors of their cage were wide open and a back gate leading to the rear garden was also found open – after being unbolted.

Two of the ferrets are described as polecats (sable-coloured) and the other as sandy-coloured (the photographs show the ferrets in their litters).

Wiltshire Police confirmed it has launched an investigation into the incident, which is said to have occurred between 4pm on 24 January and 10am today.

“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54230008542”, a spokesperson for the force added.

The owner has appealed to the public to contact the police if they have information relating to the sale of ferrets of the same description being sold.
