A major road near Chippenham is closed following a road traffic collision this evening (Wednesday).
Emergency services were called to the serious crash in A4 New Road, in Derry Hill, at around 7pm.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance was called to the incident, responding in a critical care rapid response car.
It’s believed firefighters freed at least one casualty from a dark-coloured car – by removing the vehicle’s roof – following the smash.
It’s not yet clear if anyone’s been seriously injured in the incident at this early stage.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that fire crews from Chippenham and Calne are at the scene of a collision involving two vehicles.
Traffic is being diverted through Derry Hill to avoid the closure – which is in place between Old Derry Hill and Studley Lane. The road is expected to remain closed into the night.
