A suspect’s been arrested after a man was seriously injured in a Wiltshire village.

The attack took place in Easterton, near Market Lavington, in the early hours of 16 November.

At around 12.10am, two men and a woman were walking from the Royal Oak, along High Street towards Market Lavington, when they were approached by a third man in a car.

Following a conversation, the man has then driven off, and the three pedestrians have taken the back route via the Grove Road estate onto The Spring near Lavington Lane.

The driver then approached again and got out of the car, and an altercation has taken place. The driver has then driven off.

A man, aged in his 40s, suffered grievous bodily harm-level injuries and was taken to hospital. A second man, aged in his 20s, suffered less serious injuries.

A suspect in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released under investigation.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward, and to ask residents near The Spring to check any doorbell or CCTV footage at around 00.11am on November 16.

“We’re also requesting any dashcam footage from people travelling through the village at around that time. If you can help us, please contact us on 101 quoting reference 54220120941.”
