A road traffic collision closed a residential road in Chippenham this evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Monkton Park at around 6.30pm today (Thursday 10 November) following reports of the dramatic smash.

A driver managed to overturn a silver Volkswagon Polo on Black Bridge Road, with the car coming to rest on its roof on the pavement.

It’s not clear if any other vehicles were involved – but nobody’s believed to have been seriously hurt.

The road was blocked in both directions whilst police attended the scene and recovery of the upside-down car was arranged.

The vehicle, which suffered significant front-end and windscreen damage, was hoisted onto a lorry and the road was reopened shortly before 8.30pm.
