A rigorous search of wood was carried out after a police dog ‘showed interest’ in it.
The large-scale operation was undertaken at a copse in Oaksey, located five miles northeast of Malmesbury, yesterday (Sunday 7 November).
At least 12 specially-trained search officers from Wiltshire Police were involved in combing the trees and undergrowth from the previous day (Saturday 6 November) until 4pm.
The force confirmed that the operation was a result of an off-duty police dog indicating in the area – which sparked concerns about what may be hidden at the location.
Despite speculation from locals that human remains were found, a day of foraging with strimmers, sticks, rakes and shovels turned up nothing of interest.
