The baby at the centre of a murder probe in Salisbury has been named locally.

According to locals, five-week-old Jaxson Noah Egerton was rushed to hospital by ambulance on 1 September following an incident at an address in Tournament Road.

It’s said that shortly afterwards, police officers carried out door-to-door enquiries – asking neighbours if they saw anything relating to a baby or the ambulance service presence on the day.

On 9 September, Jaxson’s life support was turned off and he was pronounced dead. Wiltshire Police continued looking into the circumstances around the tragedy, and as a result, launched a murder investigation.

The force said that “extensive enquiries” led to the arrest of three people – an 18-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman.

The trio, all known to each other, are being held in custody on suspicion of the boy’s murder and allowing or causing [a child to suffer] significant harm.

The complex probe is being headed up by the Major Crime Investigation Team, based at Gablecross Police Station in Swindon.

Yesterday (1 November), specialist search officers, dog units and crime scene investigators attended the property in Tournament Road – where they combed it for murder clues.

Police officers combed the house, garden and two cars outside for clues

During the course of their search, officers lifted the bonnets of two cars on the driveway – a Land Rover and an Audi. They also checked under stones and bricks and in the undergrowth.

Forensics bagged and removed a number of items from inside the semi-detached home, including a mattress. The crime scene was lifted at about 4pm.

In a statement yesterday, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We’ve arrested three people following the death of a five week old baby from the Salisbury area.

“The child was admitted to Salisbury District Hospital on September 1 but sadly died on September 9.

“As a result of our extensive enquiries, we have today (November 1) arrested an 18-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman in relation to the investigation.

“Our enquiries continue.”
