A crime scene is in place in Devizes after a man was found seriously injured.

The casualty is believed to have been assaulted in the car park of New Park Street, behind The Palace Cinema, late on Saturday night (3 July).

A large cordon has been in place for most of today as forensic work is carried out at the scene.

The man, aged in his 40s, is said to be in hospital – and his condition is described as serious.

“We believe he may have been assaulted in Devizes”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

The force is asking “anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the town last night (2/7) to call 101 and quote log number 116 of July 3.”
