A Swindon barber has admitted attacking a pregnant woman during a domestic incident.

Paul Miller, 32, pleaded guilty to assaulting his vicitm in Royal Wootton Bassett on 27 September 2021.

At Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (20 April), prosecutor Pauline Lambert said the assault was a domestic violence matter and the victim was pregnant.

She told the bench that the victim did not make a statement in relation to the assault, but Miller admitted his crime to officers in a police interview.

Further details about the case were not heard, because solicitor Liz Highams, defending, swiftly asked for the case to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

The homeless defendant was remanded in police custody ahead of today’s appearence after he was arrested on a warrant issued by the court on 14 April, when he failed to attend.

A charge of failing to answer bail was withdrawn by the prosection on hearing that he had simply got his dates mixed up.

He was released on bail with conditions not to contact his victim, not to go to her address in Templars Firs in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Miller will return to the same court for sentencing on 23 May.
