Police have made an attempted murder arrested following a road traffic collision in Salisbury.

Emergency services rushed to reports of two people being struck by a car in Fisherton Street at around 9.45pm last night (27 March).

Two casualties, a man and a woman, were injured and taken to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Wiltshire Police say the car – believed to be a blue Skoda – mounted the pavement before driving away from the scene.

A search was carried out by officers and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A crime scene remains in place near the junction with North Street, with a forensic investigator working at the location until 1.30pm today (28 March).

Moments after, a forensic collision investigator was seen to be undertaking CCTV analysis.

Splashes of blood could be seen within the scene, along with smashed plastic.

Detective Inspector Dean Garvin said: “This is a deeply concerning incident in which a vehicle appears to have been deliberately driven at pedestrians.

“Two people were injured and taken to hospital. Their injuries could have easily have been much, much worse.

“We are asking members of the public to contact us if you were in the area of Fisherton Street, Salisbury at about 9.45pm yesterday (27/03) and witnessed what took place.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of a Blue Skoda driving around Salisbury City Centre late last night.”

If you can help, please call Wiltshire Police on 101 quoting log 305 of 27 March.
