A “fatality on the line” in Wiltshire is causing severe delays to train services.

Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Swindon and Bristol, having been called to the scene at around 10am this morning (25 February).

A Great Western Railway (GWR) spokesperson has confirmed a person has died and that disruption is expected until around 1pm.

“This is sadly due to a fatality on the line”, they commented.

A formal announcement on the GWR website reads: “Due to the police dealing with an incident near the railway between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads all lines are blocked.

“Disruption is expected until 13:00 25/02.

“Train services between Bristol Temple Meads and Swindon may be cancelled, delayed or revised.”

Trains running through Wiltshire from Bristol Parkway are also affected.
