Wiltshire Police is appealing for information after a car was set on fire in a Chippenham field.

At approximately 9.05pm on 28 January, a member of the public reported witnessing a vehicle being driven into The Cloisters, off Charter Road, and then entering the field directly behind the houses and the lights being turned off.

A flame was seen from the vehicle and two people were seen running from the scene.

The fire service were called to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire but was identified as a Mercedes C class, potentially a 2004 model.

A police spokesperson said: “We have not yet been able to identify the owners of the vehicle, so if you believe this may be you please get in touch by calling 101.

“We are also appealing to any witnesses to the incident. If you have any information which could help our enquiries, please call 101 and quote crime reference number 54220010009.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
