A drink driver crashed into an innocent motorist on the A3102 near Lyneham.
Chris Dixon, 28, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle whilst above the prescribed alcohol limit in Calne Road, Goatacre, on 26 June last year.
Prosecutor Keith Ballinger said the defendant was driving his company car, a Toyota Yaris, in the middle of the road before hitting an oncoming vehicle.
The vehicle attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but failed and they ended up embedded in a bush.
Dixon failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. He was transported to hospital for minor injuries, and a blood sample was taken.
The evidential blood sample revealed he had 157 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.
In an interview, the defendant told officers he was alcohol dependent and had consumed a bottle of wine in the hours before he attempted to drive to Calne.
The court heard that Dixon was also convicted of drink driving in 2019.
He was dismissed from his job due to the crash involving a company vehicle but he has since secured a new role, his solicitor said.
Whilst Dixon is currently homeless, he has saved up the deposits he needs to secure somewhere to live and has worked with Turning Point and is no longer struggling with alcohol addiction.
Magistrates disqualified him from driving for three years, imposed a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
