A man who threatened another man with a golf club at a Chippenham petrol station is back in court – for failing to attend unpaid work appointments.

Nicholas Gleeson, 37, was handed a community order after pleading guilty to threatening behaviour and possession of an offensive weapon at Morrisons in West Cepen Way in March last year.

At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 8 June, he was slapped with the 18-month order, which included 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 200 hours of unpaid work.

The defendant, of Primrose Way, Chippenham, failed to attend unpaid work appointments at the end of 2021 – on 15 August, 24 October and 28 November.

Probation officer Michelle James said Gleeson has so far completed 35 hours of his unpaid work hours, but flexibility has been used due to his mental health issues.

Appearing at the same court on Saturday (22 January), he admitted three breaches of the community order.

Magistrates fined him £50 and ordered him to pay £60 in court costs.
