Police in Swindon are hunting for the victim of a ‘nasty incident’ near the County Ground in which a man was attacked by a group of children.

The 999 control room received a number of reports about the incident, which happened on Shrivenham Road at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

The man was attacked by four youths, who assaulted him with sticks.

The man managed to cycle off after the youths ran off towards the County Ground; officers then attended the scene and four youths were located.

Two males have been arrested on suspicion of affray, one has been arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting a police officer, and another has been arrested on suspicion of affray and racially aggravated Section 5 Public Order Act.

All the males are 14-years-old and live in the Swindon area. They were taken to Gablecross custody where they remain at this time.

PC Stuart McWilliams said: “Although we had several reports from members of the public who witnessed this nasty incident, we have not received a report from the victim himself and we have not been able to locate him.

“If this was you, we’d really like to speak to you, or if you may know who the victim is, please call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
