UPDATE: Woman found injured below A419 overpass after police called to ‘welfare concern’

A roundabout in Swindon is blocked as emergency services respond to a serious incident.

The Commonhead Roundabout is partially closed by police as they attend to an incident below the A419 overpass shortly after 1pm today (5 October).

One witness described a casualty, believed to be a woman, as appearing to be seriously injured in the road.

Another said there was ‘a casualty on the floor but no signs of a road traffic collision’, adding that there was a significant police and ambulance presence.

Delays are starting to build on the southbound slip road onto Commonhead Roundabout.

UPDATE 3PM

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Shortly before 1pm today (05/10) we received a call regarding concern for the welfare of a woman on the A419, close to the Commonhead roundabout.

“Officers located an injured woman in the road and she has been taken to hospital.

“The road was closed for a short time to allow emergency services to work at the scene but is now clear.”
