A man died after suffering knife wounds and falling from a window in Salisbury.

Emergency services, including Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, were called to an address in Hawksridge following reports of a man with knife injuries.

When the ambulance service arrived at the scene late on 5 September, medics believe they witnessed the casualty jump from an upstairs window.

Jeffrey Nellis, 64, was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with significant head injuries and within five days he had died from the trauma.

Officers responding to the incident set up a crime scene cordon in the vicinity of the address until the following morning (6 September).

Wiltshire Police believe there were no suspicious circumstances around his death.

Wiltshire and Swindon Coroners’ Court heard that his cause of death was a hypoxic brain injury due to cardiac arrest.

The inquest was opened and adjourned to be heard at a later date.
