A casualty has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash near Kemble.

Emergency services were called to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A433 between Tetbury and Cirencester at around 5.10pm today (1 October).

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) both landed at the scene on a T-junction near Coates, just two miles over the county border.

A seriously injured casualty was flown to Southmead Hospital’s trauma centre in Bristol by DSAA whilst WAA returned to its Semington base.

Road closures have been put into place on the A433 at Thames Head and the junction with Kemble as well as the A429 at the junction with Tetbury Road.

Gloucestershire Constabulary say they are due to begin a collision investigation, meaning the road could be shut for several more hours.

“One person has been taken to hospital via Air Ambulance with suspected serious injuries”, a spokesperson for the force said.

Adding: “Closures are likely to remain in place for a number of hours whilst a collision investigation takes place and drivers are asked to find alternative routes.

“Emergency services remain at the scene.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to police is asked to submit information online using the following form (click here), and quote incident 341 of 1 October. You can also call police on 101.”
