A man has reportedly been stabbed multiple times in a disorder near Trowbridge.

Wiltshire Police were called to Southwick Village Hall, in Southwick, at around 9.50pm yesterday (29 September) following what is believed to have been a mass disorder involving around 50 people.

Armed officers were deployed to the incident and the National Police Air Service helicopter from Bristol was deployed.

A man, who is understood to have suffered at least two stab wounds, was rushed to Trowbridge Community Hospital – which was closed – by a member of the public.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed nearby a short time later, where it’s believed the charity’s critical care paramedics accompanied the casualty to Southmead Hospital by land ambulance.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Police in Trowbridge are currently dealing with a serious assault in the Southwick area.

“Officers were called to a disorder at the Southwick Sports and Social Club at around 9.50pm this evening (29/09).

“A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are believed to be life-threatening.

“At this stage no arrests have been made, but officers, assisted by the police helicopter, are carrying out detailed enquiries.

“We are aware that people living in the town will notice a police presence and we want to provide reassurance that there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public.

“Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 300 of today.”
