Firearms officers were dispatched to an incident in Trowbridge earlier today.

At around 3pm, the police received reports that a weapon – which understood to be a firearm – having been seen in the Bythesea Road area.

Armed response officers were immediately tasked the area, alongside the National Police Air Service helicopter, to search for those involved.

Two men were later seen laying on the floor – outside She Coffee Lounge – with their hands out as firearms officers pointed their machine guns at them.

The firearm turned out to be a wooden gun, and no offences were committed.

A replica weapon was recovered, Wiltshire Police has confirmed.
