Forensics are working at the scene of a burglary on a building site in Chippenham.

Wiltshire Police were alerted to the incident at around 8.45am this morning (13 September) when staff arrived to discover tools missing from a container on the Bath Road construction site.

This afternoon two crime scene investigators were at the soon-to-be KFC and Costa stores collecting evidence.

A force spokesperson told Wiltshire 999s that “suspects appear to have broken into the site and made off with thousands of pounds worth of tools which had been kept in a secure container”.

Adding: “A parked car was also damaged”.

Police believe the offenders entered the site between 11am on Friday 10 September and 2pm on Sunday 12 September.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 61 of today (13 September).
