Eight fire crews from across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire attended an apartment block in Swindon town centre last night.

At just before 9pm, the fire service were alerted to the ‘smell of burning’ coming from Isambard Place on Wellington Street, near to the train station.

Some – but not all – residents were evacuated for approximately two hours while firefighters investigated. A short time later they established there was no fire.
