The driver of a car that collided with a lamppost in Trowbridge was seen fleeing.

Police officers rushed to the incident in Lambrok Road shortly before 11pm last night following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

A green Renault collided with a lamppost before the driver was witnessed decamping and fleeing the crash scene.

The road was partially blocked near Kingswood Chase whilst emergency services worked to locate the driver.

Despite searches by officers, utilising a drone and a dog unit, the driver wasn’t found.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “At around 10.45pm last night (01/06) we received a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision at the junction between Kingswood Chase and Lambrok Road, Trowbridge.

“A green Renault had collided with a lamppost and the driver was seen to flee the scene on foot.

“Officers, assisted by a dog unit, carried out a search of the area but the driver was not located.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should call 101 and quote reference 54210052428.”
