A 15-year-old boy was caught carrying a machete when he was arrested on a service station forecourt, a court heard.

The Swindon teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court via custody video link this morning.

Crown prosecutor Graham Dono said the boy had been arrested on suspicion of an unrelated offence at the Esso service station in Rodbourne Road on Saturday (29 May).

During a search of his person, police officers are alleged to have discovered a “Rambo-style machete” down his trouser leg.

He was “extremely abusive” to the officers in attendance, Mr Dono added.

During the hearing, as the prosecutor spoke, the teenager called him a “f**king p**ck” and a “little “f**king p**ck” before his microphone was muted.

Charged with possession of an offensive weapon, defence solicitor Mark Glendenning indicated his client would enter a guilty plea at the youth court.

Magistrates released him on bail with conditions to live and sleep where Swindon Borough Council direct. He was curfewed between 7pm and 7am daily.

The case was adjourned to the Swindon Youth Court on 8 June.
