A woman has been charged with drink driving after crashing into a fire engine in West Swindon yesterday afternoon.

Lucy Higgins, 35, of Dixon Way, Westlea, will appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court accused of driving a motor vehicle when over the alcohol limit, driving a motor vehicle otherwise in accordance with a licence and use of a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance.

Police were called Dixon Way following reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a black Vauxhall Corsa and a fire engine at around 3.30pm on Thursday.

No one was injured and the fire engine was able to return to the station.

Ms Higgins was remanded in custody to appear in court this afternoon.
