A Swindon primary school was locked down this afternoon following a disorder reportedly involving at least one male brandishing a knife.

Police officers swarmed the Toothill area following a 999 call reporting the incident in the Dunwich Drive area at around 12.30pm.

Hazelwood Acamay School made the decision to move children indoors and lockdown the building as police dealt with the incident nearby.

Parents and guardians were informed of the developing situation by text message, but the school has since reopened.

Despite the large police presence in the area, no arrests have been made. Wiltshire Police has also confirmed that they don’t believe anyone’s been hurt.

“Officers have attended and have been carrying out a search of the area”, spokesperson for the force told Wiltshire 999s.

“We are not aware of anyone having been injured, and at this stage no arrests have been made.

“We don’t want the public to be unduly concerned, there is nothing to suggest there is any risk to people in the area.”

Reportedly, a man was witnessed pursuing two other males whilst brandishing a large knife or machete.

One local resident said “a chap was chasing two lads with a machete”, adding that “police are everywhere at the moment”.
