A former soldier has been given a restraining order after harassing his ex-girlfriend for the second time in less than six months.

23-year-old Jordan Hunt, of Ludlow Close, Westbury, initially pleaded not guilty to the harassment between 14 and 18 February this year, but today at Swindon Magistrates Court admitted the offence.

Appearing via video link from HMP Bullington, where he has been remanded for over a week, he also admitted sending an offensive text message stating “you’re both f***cked” to a friend of his ex-girlfriend during an argument on 29 November last year.

The prosecutor said he’d bombarded her with masses of calls and text messages over the four day period, though said messages ‘weren’t particularly horrific’.

Defending Hunt, solicitor Mr Glendenning told that court that his ex-girlfriend had been giving mixed messages and engaging in two-way conversations.

He said that she had contacted him first on this occasion, but the defendant admitted he had responded and was persistent in his replies. It was heard that the messages did not include anything threatening or unpleasant.

Mr Glendenning claimed ‘crumbs of hope had been put his way’, adding that the pair had spent time together in the months before Christmas – only a short time after he’d been convicted of harassment against her.

In October last year, Hunt was sentenced to an 18-month community order for texting his former partner pretending to be a police officer who had located his van at Shearwater Lake accompanied by a suicide note. He was also convicted of harassment which took place between 24 August and 19 September 2020.

Hunt is currently out of work, but served in the armed forces before being discharged due to suffering PTSD.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order – he must complete 80 hours unpaid work. Hunt was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to the receiver of the offensive text message sent on 29 November 2020.

Magistrates also imposed a 12-month restraining order on him preventing him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly. Hunt was also banned from entering Ferris Way in Trowbridge.
