Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s helicopter is offline after a fault was found during servicing.

The helicopter went for a routine 100-hour check at Thruxton back in early February but has not yet returned back to its Semington base.

Speaking to the charity today, Wiltshire 999s has learned that an issue was found with the main rotor head, meaning urgent work would need to be undertaken.

According to our records, the helicopter travelled out of Wiltshire to Thruxton for servicing on 1 February and remains there today.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance say it’s not expected to return until next week.

The last time it was reported on attending a medical incident was on 30 January, when it flew to Swindon after a woman was found injured at an address in Wroughton.

“Earlier this month our helicopter underwent a 100-hour service, which identified some work that needed to be carried out on the main rotor head”, a spokesperson said.

Adding: “Those works are now nearing completion and the helicopter is expected to return at the start of next week.

“We continue to be operational, carrying out our lifesaving service with two Rapid Response Vehicles, whilst we are also supported by neighbouring air ambulance charities, just as we support them when required.”
