There have been multiple casualties and many workers are missing following a “large explosion” at a warehouse near Bristol this morning.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the emergency services responding to the serious incident in Avonmouth at around 11.20am.

An eyewitness reported seeing ‘at least ten ambulances’ racing to the scene.

A statement from Avon Fire and Rescue said: “We have been called to a large explosion at 11.22am in a warehouse in Avonmouth on Kings Weston Lane.

“Crews from Avonmouth, Southmead, Yate, Patchway, Kingswood and Temple are currently attending. We can confirm there are multiple casualties on site.

“We are joined by Avon and Somerset Police and the ambulance service on site.
