A teenage girl was sexually assaulted by a man in Chippenham last Monday.

Wiltshire Police is now appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened in Malmesbury Road – near Portal Close – on 16 November.

At around 3.20pm, a man approached the girl and touched her ‘inappropriately’.

The suspect is described as being white, in his 40s with a stocky build and short dark hair and stubble. He was wearing a dark coloured puffer jacket and dark smart-looking trousers. He was seen walking away towards Portal Close.

“This is a concerning incident which was understandably very upsetting for the victim”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented.

Adding: “The offence took place at a busy time of day, so someone may well have seen something. We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or have dash cam footage that might help identify the offender.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting crime reference number 54200114395. Alternatively, you may contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
