A 61-year-old woman has been sexually assaulted by a man in Chippenham.

At 8.10am on 24 June, the woman was walking on Wood Lane when she heard a man run up behind her. He lifted the woman’s dress and grabbed her bottom before running off.

He made off in an alleyway leads from Wood Lane to London Road.

The man is not described as being violent and the woman was not injured.

The man is described as white, approximately 5 foot 10 inches tall and of slim build. He is believed to have been aged approximately 20 years old and had dark brown hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark coloured jacket and dark jeans.

Sergeant Neil Duffin said: “The victim was not injured but was understandably left shaken.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone who may have seen this male running from the scene.

“We have conducted house to house enquiries in the area but would be keen to hear from anyone else who may have information. Call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
