A main road through Royal Wootton Bassett is gridlocked after a car crashed into a building.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9am following reports of a car colliding with the newly opened Apocalyptic Tattoo Studio in the High Street.

The incident is causing significant traffic delays in the area, with the partially blocked by fire crews.

South Western Ambulance Service were called to the scene but were later stood down due to the driver — reportedly an elderly woman — not requiring medical treatment, but was left shaken.

Wiltshire Police says the building had suffered structural damage in the collision.

“We were called just after 9am to a report of a vehicle colliding with a building in High Street, causing some structural damage. A Highways Duty Engineer is due to attend to assess the damage”, a force spokesperson said.
