Four suspected poachers managed to evade police after crashing into a ditch on the A4.

Officers were called to reports of poaching on farmland near Pewsey at around 7pm on Saturday, where a blue Honda CRV was seen driving away from the scene.

The vehicle was later spotted by Rural Crime Team officers on the A4, but the driver immediately took action to avoid them by driving across nearby fields.

A short time later, the Honda crashed into a bank and four occupants fled the scene on foot – leaving two dogs behind. Despite an area search, the suspects remain outstanding.

“If you witnessed this or heard or saw anything suspicious in the Beckhampton area yesterday evening please contact us on 101 quoting crime reference number 54200084164”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented.
