Trains were stopped last night after a report of a person on the railway line in Swindon.

Wiltshire Police and a Network Rail response team were called to the scene near Greenbridge at shortly before 9pm where they found a man sitting on live mainline tracks.

He was removed from the line by officers and taken to Great Western Hospital.

“Shortly before 9pm officers attended the railway line near Shrivenham Road”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented. Adding: “The man was safely removed from the line and went to the Great Western Hospital following the incident.”
