A traffic officer has told me to “stay indoors” after attending ‘preventable collisions’ this morning.

A Wiltshire Police specialist operations police officer tweeted “I am currently in Royal Wootton Bassett. I am truly dismayed and disheartened to see so many of you good people going about life as normal.”

They urged residents to stay indoors unless the trip out was essential, in line with the four reasons set our by the Prime Minister in his address to the nation yesterday night.

The officer added that people are ‘putting lives at risk’ as police deal with ‘preventable collisions’.

The tweet was posted while the roads policing team were in Royal Wootton Bassett.
