Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at a derelict pavilion in Swindon following a suspected arson attack.

A number of fire crews were sent to the scene at around 5pm this evening following reports of the fire in Seven Fields public park, Penhill.

A large smoke plume could be seen over Penhill and Pinehurst before the blaze was brought under control.

A senior firefighter told Wiltshire 999s that there were signs of forced entry, so police were called in to investigate.

Due to the structure’s timber frame and roof, the fire service will remain at the scene for several hours while they dampen down.
