Dozens of 999 crews were called to the scene in Netheravon at just before 1pm today, after Wiltshire Police received a call about the package at 12.40pm.

Choulston Close was on lockdown for several hours while specialist HAZMAT teams from South Western Ambulance Service and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service carried out an investigation into the item.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We received a call at 12.40pm today (30/05/19) about a suspicious package at an address in Choulston Close, Netheravon.

“As a highly precautionary measure, police, fire and ambulance all attended.”

The package was found to be safe, and emergency crews have since left the scene.
