A police search team have arrived at the scene of an attempted murder in Calne.

On the hunt for any evidence relating to the stabbing of 21-year-old Cameron Tait in the Bremhill View Social Club car park at just before 7pm last night.

Half a dozen officers arrived at around 3.30pm, and are combing the car park and surrounding area.

POLICE AT THE SCENE LAST NIGHT

A black Vauxhall Astra was left covered in blood following the incident, where it’s understood the victim suffered a major bleed from the knife wound and has since undergone surgery.

Armed officers and police dog units were sent to the scene, and a 18-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

Two other men, aged 19 and 20, from Royal Wootton Bassett, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder by joint enterprise. They also remain in custody.

Insp Mark Luffman, from Wiltshire North Community Policing Team, said: “I know the community in Calne will be understandably concerned and anxious about last night’s events, but I hope they will be reassured by the quick progress in our investigation and the fact that three people have already been arrested.

“This was an isolated incident involving a group of people who are all known to each other.

“There will be an increased police presence in Calne over the coming days as officers and detectives carry out their enquiries, and I hope that will provide some reassurance to the local community.

“I want to urge anyone who has information which could help our investigation to come forward and speak to police about what they know.”

Wiltshire Police is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact them on 101 immediately and quote log number 279 of 12 November.
