Police are increasing patrols in south Wiltshire amid concerns that individuals could travel into the area to carry out poaching and hare coursing in the coming days.
Wiltshire Police said it was aware of potential plans for people to enter the area to engage in the offences.
Additional resources have been deployed, with officers also working alongside neighbouring police forces to prevent suspected criminal activity.
Inspector Andy Lemon, the force’s Rural Crime lead, said: “We take this kind of offending incredibly seriously.
“We have put in place additional resources and patrols, and we are working closely with our colleagues in neighbouring forces to disrupt any activity that takes place.
“I would ask our rural communities to remain vigilant tomorrow and over the course of the week.
“Please keep gates secured and make entrances to land as difficult as possible.
“If you see any suspicious activity, vehicles in unusual locations, or suspected poaching offences, please report it via 999 so we can take the appropriate action.”
