The M4 has been closed in both directions following a crash near Wiltshire.
The motorway is shut between junction 19 for the M32 and junction 18 near Yate as emergency services respond to a road traffic collision this afternoon (Monday).
Motorists are facing significant disruption, with delays of more than 45 minutes and around four miles of congestion reported on the approach.
In a statement, National Highways said: “Update 1: The #M4 eastbound has now closed both ways between J19 and J18 near #Yate
“Emergency services continue to lead the response at scene.
“Long delays in excess of 45 minutes and approx. 4 miles of congestion on approach.
“Please plan ahead. Diversion route to follow.”
