An elderly man has died after crashing into a field of the A350 near Lacock.
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the busy road at around 3.05pm on Tuesday (29 September).
The incident involved a car leaving the carriageway through a hedgerow and into a field.
Members of the public raced to help ahead of ambulance crews and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance.
Wiltshire Police said that the driver, a man aged in his 80s, was declared deceased at the scene.
The man is believed to have died of a medical episode rather than injuries sustained in the crash.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 3.05pm yesterday we responded to a report that a vehicle had left the carriageway on the A350 near Beanacre.
“A man in his 80s was sadly declared deceased at the scene.
“This is thought to be medical related and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
