Three air ambulances have attended a serious crash involving a lorry and two cars.
Emergency services were called to a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the A345 Netheravon Road shortly before 3pm this afternoon (Monday).
The incident – which happened just north of Durrington – involved a black Citroen, a black SEAT, and a yellow Volvo grab lorry with Siteform Trucks branding.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance all landed at the scene.
After more than one hour on the ground providing urgent care to casualties, two seriously injured people – both adults – were airlifted to hospital for further treatment.
One was taken to Southampton General Hospital’s Major Trauma Centre, while the other was flown to Salisbury District Hospital.
The road remains closed in both directions – between Durrington and Upavon – for investigation work. Wiltshire Police are yet to confirm level of injury.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Officers are currently in attendance at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A345 Netheravon Road, Figheldean, involving three vehicles.
“Two adults have been transported to hospital by air ambulance to be treated for serious injuries.
“The road remains closed in both directions. Drivers are asked to seek alternative routes and expect delays in the area.”
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “We were called at 2.54pm today (28 September) to Netheravon Road, Figheldean to reports of a three-vehicle road traffic collision.
“Four crews attended from Amesbury and Salisbury along with Andover and Basingstoke (Hampshire & Isle of Wight FRS).
“On arrival, two casualties were trapped, so crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release them, and handed them into the care of the ambulance service. They made the scene safe, and the stop came in at 3.53pm.
“One crew remains on scene, and the road is currently closed.”
