Two men have been arrested after a casualty was injured in a crash at a Chippenham pub.
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Lodge Road, Pewsham, at around 8.10pm on Thursday (24 September).
A Volkswagen Polo struck the wall of the beer garden at The Old Lane pub – with the driver reportedly falling unresponsive following impact.
The male driver, aged in his 20s, was treated by local ambulance crews and critical care medics from Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance at the scene.
He was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon by land ambulance.
While police remained at the crash site, two men began fighting just metres away. Officers attempted to restrain the pair, and were assaulted in the process.
Both men were arrested and taken into custody following the disorder, Wiltshire Police confirmed.
Peter Martin, 52, of Ray Close, Chippenham, has since been charged with assaulting an emergency worker. He is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on 12 November.
The other suspect remains in custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 20:11hrs on Thursday 24 September to a road traffic collision in Pewsham.
“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.
“We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”
